Software Engineer
I'm a software engineer based in Santa Clara, CA (but let’s be honest, I mostly "work from park"). Baylands Park used to be my go-to, but now they charge $6 a day—so I’m either finding a secret free spot nearby (shh... 🤫) or launching a GoFundMe for my "workplace expenses."
Before this, I went to Cornell University to get my Master's degree in Computer Science—because why not spend a fortune on a degree I don’t actually need for my job? :) I got my Bachelor's in Software Engineering from University College Dublin and Beijing University of Technology… but plot twist—I never even went to Ireland. And to make it worse, because of the pandemic, I spent most of my time stuck at home or in a dorm.
On the bright side, I had more time to work on personal projects. I built several WeChat mini programs, Android apps, iOS apps, a bunch of websites with Django, and even cranked out some research papers—none of which I’m too ashamed to click on (which is saying something). Funny thing—one project took me three months to build, and absolutely no one used it. Meanwhile, an app I threw together in two hours somehow blew up with 10K+ users. Life makes no sense. 🤷♂️
Fingers crossed that at least one person uses them this time. 🤞
Some were useful, some were... character-building experiences. 👌
