About me

I'm a software engineer based in Santa Clara, CA (but let’s be honest, I mostly "work from park"). Baylands Park used to be my go-to, but now they charge $6 a day—so I’m either finding a secret free spot nearby (shh... 🤫) or launching a GoFundMe for my "workplace expenses."

Before this, I went to Cornell University to get my Master's degree in Computer Science—because why not spend a fortune on a degree I don’t actually need for my job? :) I got my Bachelor's in Software Engineering from University College Dublin and Beijing University of Technology… but plot twist—I never even went to Ireland. And to make it worse, because of the pandemic, I spent most of my time stuck at home or in a dorm.

On the bright side, I had more time to work on personal projects. I built several WeChat mini programs, Android apps, iOS apps, a bunch of websites with Django, and even cranked out some research papers—none of which I’m too ashamed to click on (which is saying something). Funny thing—one project took me three months to build, and absolutely no one used it. Meanwhile, an app I threw together in two hours somehow blew up with 10K+ users. Life makes no sense. 🤷‍♂️

Projects I’m Currently Working On...

Fingers crossed that at least one person uses them this time. 🤞

• System (and people 👀) observability and monitoring platform design and implementation... Can't say much because, well, it's my current job and they told me to keep it mysterious.
• Compile-N-Run: A website to learn any programming language or framework for free. (Okay, so I don't know *all* of them, but I used LLMs to generate the content. And hey, there’s no difference—unless you want to pay $20/month for it, but who needs that when it's free here?)
• cool-coding: The Chinese version of Compile-N-Run. (And honestly, I don’t think Deepseek is any better than Claude, but feel free to prove me wrong!)
• minitorch-cn the chinese version of MiniTorch. (Currently a work in progress, but aren't all the best things?)

Projects I Built Before...

Some were useful, some were... character-building experiences. 👌

• MusicMo: A not-so-user-friendly e-commerce website. (But hey, it’s got character!)
• A LWJGL project: It may look cool, but trust me, it makes no sense.
• Offer Master: You definitely won’t get a grad-school offer if you use our website. (But it’s *funny*, right?)
• Colorize: An Android app that lets you colorize black-and-white photos.
• BM25 Search Engine: A search engine that uses BM25 to rank documents.
• Emoji to PNG: A website that converts emoji to PNG images.
